Let’s Talk Anniversary Edition


The 50th session of the Let’s Talk series was organized as the Anniversary Edition on 18th March 2021. The speakers were Mr. Feny Roy and Mr. Salih Yoosaf. They are final year students from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam who masterminded the Let’s Talk initiative. They took a session on Once Upon a Time, discussing and reminiscing the ideation and journey of the Let’s Talk series till date. The talk was conducted through google meet from 7 PM to 8 PM IST. Over 80 active participants attended the session and it was well received.

Doodle Contest


A Doodle Making Competition was organized by IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE MACE SB as part of International Women’s Day Celebrations on 8th March 2021. The event was organized by Shabinas Karthik S and Fehma R. The contest was held from 7:30 PM to 9:00 pm on March 8th. The entries were submitted via email and the winners were announced on IEEE MACE SB’s Instagram handle on 10th March 2021. The contest brought out fresh and new perspectives on the theme “Women and night-life.”



A 24 hour DIY Model Making Competition SYNTHESIS was organized as part of IEEE MACE SB’s Science Week Celebrations – TRISCIFIC on 25th February 2021 and 26th February 2021. The event was organized by Mizaj M, Muhammed Zain, Neha Jasmin, and Preseeda P Kartha. It was a Do-It-Yourself model-making competition, where the participants were asked to create a Science DIY product using any day-to-day essentials and compile their progress in the form of video and photos. The competition spanned 24 hours and focused on converging technology and creativity. Over 29 participants registered for the event. Prizes worth 1K were awarded to the winners.



LEAD: Learn Engage Assess Design was an initiative conducted by students of IEEE MACE SB as a part of the VoLT Project by the IEEE LINK Kerala Section. The main aim of this event was to engage less active members to coordinate activities and uplift them to develop themselves. This event includes various activities like Scavenger Hunt, Hangman, Quiz Competition, Poster Design Competition, etc. These events were coordinated by a team of volunteers who are new to volunteering. LEAD received 100+ participation from SB members and it helped students to get involved with IEEE events.

Work With Me


The second session in the work with me series was held on 12th May 2020. The session was handled by Mr.Geen Geo,Graphic designer at Riafy Technology. The topic discussed was ‘ Explore 3 D modeling using Blender’.The student response was remarkable and the event went well.

15 Days of Code


The Computer Society chapter of IEEE MACE SB has conducted an online coding challenge named 15 days of code. The event was organized by Neenu Chacko, S Sameem, and Melvin Thomas. The event was to be done in Github. The event was conducted such that the contestant has to code for 15 days continuously. Participants who have attended the challenge was 98. Of which 5 contestants submitted finally. The event was conducted from 10th May 2020 to 24th May2020,15 days. The judgments were finally based on the implementability, product feasibility, UI/UX, and consistency in coding.



An open to all online quiz series was organized by IEEE Women In Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE MACE SB. It was conducted for the purpose of testing intelligence and expanding boundaries. The first round was conducted on 29th  April 2020. Over 188 students from almost all disciplines registered and 114 successfully submitted the quiz. The quiz consisted of a mix of reasoning, questions, brainteasers, and riddles. The event was meant to encourage reasoning among students. It is planned to conduct 4 more rounds after which a winner will be chosen based on the number of correct answers and speed.

Lock Talk


IEEE Computer Society of SB Chapter of Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Computer Society of IEEE MACE SB, Punjab Engineering College SB Chapter, Jeppiaar Engineering College SB Chapter, G Pulla Reddy Engineering College SB
Chapter, Sri Sairam Engineering College SB Chapter, Panimalar Institute Of Technology SB Chapter is conducting the Lock Talk webinar series. This inter SB collaborated webinar series focuses on the theme “Learning in Lock Down”. It would have webinars and a series of activities related to technical, non-technical, and volunteer training. The first event in the collaboration was the Cyber Forensics webinar which was handled by Trilok Chander.G. He is a BTECH CSE graduate with expertise in cybercrime and web administration. He is currently working in India’s premier National Police Academy in capacity building for India’s senior Police officers.

Webinar on Git and GitHub


Computer society chapter of IEEE MACE SB conducted a webinar on 24th May 2020 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM (IST). The event was headed by Neenu Chacko (S4R), Chairperson of the IEEE Computer Society chapter, and S Sameem (S2R), the vice-chair of the IEEE Computer Society chapter. The event was conducted on google meet. The webinar was on ‘Version control with Git and Introduction to Github’. The speaker for the online event was Mr. Sreeram Venkitesh. He is ML Developer and currently a third-year student of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. The webinar took the listeners to the Introduction to Version Control, Basics of Git, using Github for projects, and contributing to open-source projects.



The IAS Chapter of IEEE MACE SB 2020 conducted the online logo and tag line quiz named INQUEST. The first round of the series competition was headed by Sujeeth B (S2EA), Vice-chair of IAS Chapter and Fathima Nazar (S4EA), Secretary of IAS Chapter. The competition would be conducted for 2 more rounds on a weekly basis.

Let’s Talk


The second event of the Let’s Talk series was organized on 17th April 2020 at 8:30 pm. The program aims to bring out the speakers among students. The speaker for the session was Mr.Muhammed Asif, Student at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering Kothamangalam. The session began at 8:30 pm with an introduction by Mr.Varghese Babu. The topic for the talk was the speaker’s own start-up experiences. He talked about how and why he came up with the idea. Along with his present plans, he also explained the need for exposure and benefits he received in parallel.

Code Buzzers


An SB technical quiz competition was organized under the initiative of Women In Computing wing under the association of Computer Society and Women In Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE MACE SB on 14th April 2020 from 07:00 PM to 08:00 PM. The event was headed by Parvathi J Nair and Neenu Chacko of S4R. The competition was open for all engineering students. The quiz was conducted with the help of google forms.



Py.learn is an event hosted by the Computer Society Chapter of IEEE MACE SB. Online Python learning classes py.learn officially began on 26th March 2020. Classes are taken daily by Melvin Thomas, Webmaster IEEE MACE SB. The classes are meant for different sections of learners. The number of active learners is 26. Study materials and references are shared with the learners through the google classroom platform.



An Online Quiz competition ELECTROPIA was organized at the college level by IEEE Communication Society SBC of IEEE MACE SB on 23 rd March 2020 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. It was an online event headed by Varghese Babu of S4R. The quiz competition was aimed at all the electronics enthusiasts who have the potential to answer some tackling electronics-based questions. The competition was held exclusively for the students of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. The platform used for the competition was the Skilter app. The competition series would be continued for 4 more rounds on a periodic basis

Content Writing Competiton


The WIE AG of IEEE MACE SB 2020 in connection with the Women’s Week conducted an online content writing competition which provided an opportunity for both boys and girls to pen down their opinions on a topic “What do you think is the most difficulty a girl faces in pursuing a career in the field of STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and what can be done to overcome it and encourage girls ?” under a 250-word limit. The main aim of the competition was to find the best and most thoughtful write-up on the given topic.

Code Flip


An SB level Coding Competition CODEFLIP was organized by the IEEE Computer Society in association with IEEE WIE AG of IEEE MACE SB on 6th March 2020 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The competition was held exclusively for the students of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. The problems were hosted on the platform of Hackerrank. Participants had to switch between their partners every 10 minutes of the competition and complete the code. Team members were not allowed to communicate with each other during the competition. This pair programming focused on improving the ability of coders to complement and complete their teammate’s code and also to emphasize the need for documentation in code.

Industry 4.0


Industry 4.0 refers to the use of automation and data exchange in manufacturing. Industry 4.0 uses the Internet of Things in order to perform digital manufacturing. Workshop on industry 4.0 was conducted exclusively for the students of mace in collaboration with the IoT lab of MACE and WIE affinity group as a part of Women in Engineering week. ABLE VARGHESE, IOT lab coordinator took the session which comprised of IoT overview, network, and layers, TCP/IP protocol, introduction to cloud computing, Esp8266 architecture, and a hands-on session using node MCU.



“Meraki” is a Greek word used to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love. The event Meraki aimed to teach and to learn about things we love and to do it wholeheartedly. The program helped introduce the concepts and basics of web development to both boys and girls who were interested to learn and know more about it. The session was hands-on and taken by Stevin Prince and Bonnie Simon of S4R.

Annual General Meet


The official inauguration of EXECOM 2020 and the annual report presentation was done during the Annual General Meet which was duly held on 27/02/2020 from 2 PM to 4 PM at MCA Seminar Hall. The function was coordinated and executed by the execom members of 2019 and 2020. Active student participation was seen with a count of 66.

Red Hat is an American multinational software company providing open-source software products to the enterprise community. Founded in 1993, Red Hat has its corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, with other offices worldwide. It became a subsidiary of IBM on July 9, 2019.
A session was taken by Mr. Joseph Job, Chief Technology Officer, Spectrum Softtech Solutions Pvt Ltd. He is skilled in Enterprise Health Care Softwares, Software Project
Management, Linux, IT Integration, ISP, Data Center Operation, and Cloud Computing.



An open Quiz Competition MACEBOWL was organized at the college level by the IEEE Industry Application Society of IEEE MACE SB in coordination with MACE Quiz Club on 26th February 2020 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The competition was held exclusively for the students of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering.

Talk on Quantum Computing


  Talk on Quantum Computing session was conducted exclusively for the students of mace, on 24/02/2020, on the ground floor of the EC block. KIRAN JOHNS, IEEE member, and IBM Qiskit Advocate took the session which comprised an introduction to quantum computing, working of a quantum computer, and also shared the resources to learn quantum computing. He also shared his learning experience which was an inspiration to all the attendees.



A 12-hour Coding Competition MACATHON was organized at the college level by the IEEE Computer Society of IEEE MACE SB on 15th February 2020 from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It was an online event headed by Varghese Babu of S4R and Vishnu R of S2EB. The coding competition was aimed at awakening creativity among the coding enthusiasts and giving a boost to their problem-solving skills. The competition was held exclusively for the students of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. The platform used for Hackathon was Hackerrank.
